From Savannah Now: The free garden at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum in downtown Savannah has long offered a lunchtime oasis for office workers and a shaded respite for tired tourists. Now it’s upping its game by also offering a little educational interaction.
Executive Director Catherine Adler recently added about 60 garden tags that identify plants not only by their Latin and common names but also include a QR code that links to customized descriptions of the plants and how to grow them. Adler used a service called Plants Map that allowed her to tailor the narrative to tell about each plant beyond its aesthetics.
