How do I link my Plants Map profile to my own website?

We’ve been asked to give some tips for linking Plants Map profiles to other external websites like an individual’s blog or an organization’s website.

How to get your unique Plantsmap.com URL:

Individual Profiles: Click on My Profile from the profile menu and this places you on your main profile page that others can see when visiting our site. Your url is now visible in your web browsers address bar at the top of your screen and also in your ‘about’ area of your profile. This is your URL for your your individual profile that you can share with others.

Organization Profiles: Click on the profile  menu and choose your organizatio profile. You are now viewing your organization profile page that others will see when visiting our site. Your url is now visible in your web browsers address bar at the top of your screen and also in your cover photo area of your profile. This is your URL for your your organization profile that you can share with others.

More detailed instructions

If you already know how to link websites with images and you only want a high quality version of our logo, then just visit our Brandfolder page and download the image that works best for you and link it to your profile page or to the Plantsmap.com URL and you should be all set.

If you would like a Plants Map logo and some text that links to your profile similar to the image below then there are two ways to do that. One way would be to visit the Brandfolder link above and get the image you want to use, put that in the images folder on your site and then link to it like you would with any other image you post on your blog.

If you use a site like WordPress where you can create “Widgets”, then simply add a new HTML widget and put it in your site template where you’d like it to appear and then paste the code below to get a link like you see here:

Here is the code I used. This will work just fine within a WordPress widget:

<a href="http://plantsmap.com/users/bill-blevins" target="_blank"><img src="http://info.plantsmap.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/PlantsMapLogo250pixels.jpg" alt="Plants Map Logo"></a><br />
<strong><a href="http://plantsmap.com/users/bill-blevins" target="_blank">View my profile on Plants Map</a></strong>

You would just need to change the URL in two locations (I underlined them in the example) for the link to go to your own Plants Map page because you probably don’t want it to link to my page, although I would appreciate that.
If you just wanted to link to Plants Map, then you would just link it to PlantsMap.com and your visitors would go to the homepage.
We can always work with you too, so if this gets confusing, just pop us a message using the form at the bottom of the page and we’ll get back in touch right away and try to figure out the best way to help.
